Revitalizing Today to Protect Tomorrow

T-TSA'S CLEAN WATER
REVITALIZATION PROJECT

The Clean Water Revitalization Project is a multi-year initiative led by the Tahoe-Truckee Sanitation Agency to enhance the safety and reliability of wastewater treatment, reduce nutrient discharge, and ensure continued confidence in the environmental health of the Truckee River for decades to come. The project demonstrates the agency’s commitment to environmental and fiscal stewardship, innovative and exceptional wastewater treatment, and community responsibility.

Project Timeline

The Tahoe-Truckee Sanitation Agency Clean Water Revitalization Project was approved in Fall 2025 and is a multi-year initiative.

Project Benefits

Since Tahoe-Truckee Sanitation Agency is subject to some of the highest and most stringent regulatory wastewater treatment limits in the entire United States, the new wastewater facility will provide many benefits such as: •   Superior performance using fewer chemicals and less personnel –– no more 24/7 staffing required
•   Sustainable practices that deliver long-term savings
•   Innovative technology

The Clean Water Revitalization Project delivers significant benefits to the community, environment, and current wastewater treatment facility.

Environmental Protection

Advanced sewer treatment processes that are less chemically dependent ensure cleaner, safer water free from pollutants, protecting the Truckee River, downstream bodies of water, and the surrounding natural environment.

Energy Efficiency

Modern equipment and renewable energy systems reduce operational costs and carbon footprint.

Advanced Technology

Advanced system technology will provide a stronger foundation for future upgrades ensuring compliance with stringent effluent limits and regulatory evolution over the next 50 plus years.

Fiscally Sound

New robust and innovative technology will result in improved system performance and reliability while reducing capital and long-term operating costs.

Community Health

Enhanced wastewater treatment protects overall public health and maintains the high quality of life in the Tahoe-Truckee region.
